Del Piero sees similarity between his Juventus goal and Mbappé’s Champions League screamer

Juventus and Italy legend Alessandro Del Piero sees 'similarities' between a goal he had scored for Juventus in 2010 and one netted by Kylian Mbappe against Real Sociedad last night.

Mbappe inspired PSG's 2-1 win over Real Sociedad on Tuesday night with a brace and his first goal felt familiar to Juventus and Italy legend Del Piero, a 2006 World Cup winner.

The ex-striker had found the net in a similar fashion in August 2010 in a Europa League playoff tie between Juventus and Sturm Graz.

"There are similarities," Del Piero said during Sky Sport Italia's post-match show on Tuesday night.

"They are, also because in both cases, there wasn't a second defender to press, leaving space to shoot in goal," noted ex-Italian coach Capello, another Sky Sport Italia pundit on Champions League nights.

"Big champions see angles other players can't see," argued ex-Inter star Esteban Cambiasso.

"Other footballers can't even think about it, let alone execute it.

"Del Piero won the 1996 Champions League with Juventus but lost the finals in 1997, 1998 and 2003.

Cambiasso won the Cup With The Big Ears at Inter in 2010, under Jose Mourinho.

Capello was in charge of Milan when the Rossoneri won the European competition in the 1993-94 campaign.
