Cortes began his career at Colombian topflight side Millonarios, making his firstteam debut shortly after turning 18. He also caught attention during Copa Libertadores matches as a teenager, particularly impressing against Brazilian giants Atletico Mineiro. His performances led to interest from Ligue 1 runners up RC Lens ahead of their return to Champions League football.

The young winger made his senior Colombia debut last June against Iraq and continues to make a strong impression with goalscoring abilities while playing for Under20s squad. After moving permanently to RC Lens last summer, he scored and assisted in four appearances in Ligue 1 despite being relatively young.

Speaking about joining Rangers, Cortes expressed excitement about contributing towards reaching team goals this season and entertaining fans with his style of play. Manager Philippe Clement also praised him as an enthusiastic addition who will provide welcome competition within the forward line.

Director of Recruitment Nils Koppen highlighted that they had been monitoring Cortes for some time due to impressive performances at South American under20 Championship before making moves both domestically and internationally.
