Rangers have their sights set on finalizing a temporary transfer for Oscar Cortes from French club RC Lens before the Thursday deadline. At just 20 years old, Cortes has shown promise by scoring once in his single appearance for the Ligue 1 team during this year's campaign, with that goal coming against Stade Reims late last year.
Cortes also boasts international experience despite his young age. He earned his first cap for Colombia after entering as a substitute in the dying minutes of a victory over Iraq last summer. This move could mark an exciting development both for him and Rangers if it materializes.
Should everything go according to plan, Cortes will join Fabio Silva and Mohammed Diomande as one of three newcomers at Ibrox Stadium this month; Silva arriving on loan from Wolves while Diomande made the switch from Danish outfit Nordsjaelland. Moreover, there’s talk about potentially sealing a permanent contract for Cortes come summertime.
The Scottish giants find themselves trailing five points behind league leaders Celtic but have an opportunity to narrow that gap since they've played one less match than their Glasgow rivals so far. They're looking forward to bouncing back into Premiership action with hopes high ahead of hosting Livingston this Saturday.
