Aston Villa are in advanced talks with Celta Vigo over a move for defender Oscar Mingueza, talkSPORT understands.

Villa's sporting director Monchi is leading the negotiations for versatile Spanish international Mingueza.

There could be a domino effect with Carlos going to Turkey if Villa can secure a deal for Mingueza.

The versatile Spaniard, who can play at both centre-back and right-back, currently has 18 months remaining on his contract.

He joined Celta from Barcelona in 2022 and has been capped twice by Spain.

Mingueza would be Unai Emery's first signing of the January transfer window.

The Spaniard previously spent almost PS150million on eight new additions in the summer.

As for Carlos, the Brazilian's deal is also set to expire at the end of next term.
