Aston Villa manager Unai Emery has named his starting XI to face Athletic Bilbao for the club's sixth pre-season friendly of the summer at the Bescot Stadium.

Villa come into the game on the back of three defeats out in the States and following a 1-0 defeat to Club America last weekend.

Ollie Watkins, Emi Martinez, Ezri Konsa and Jhon Duran are all left out of the squad after they only returned to training on Tuesday morning, while Diego Carlos, Kaine Kesler-Hayden, Robin Olsen and Enzo Barrenechea are also missing.

Joe Gauci starts in goal behind a defence of Matty Cash, Lamare Bogarde, Pau Torres and Lucas Digne.

Amadou Onana plays with compatriot Youri Tielemans, while Leon Bailey operates from the right and Jacob Ramsey from the left.

John McGinn will support Morgan Rogers in attack.
