This season, 28 clubs are participating in the league, which have been divided into two groups, each group combines 14 clubs, according to the draw that took place at the headquarters of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation on the eighth of last June, as 3 clubs are promoted to the first division, and 4 clubs are relegated to the third division.
The first group includes the teams of Al-Bukayriyah, Al-Nujoom, Al-Washm, Al-Riyadh, Al-Rawda, Al-Intisar, Al-Sadd, Al-Sharq, Wej, Al-Arabi, Al-Liwa, Al-Dahab, Al-Saqr and Tuwaiq clubs, while the second group will include the teams of Al-Thaqbah, Arar, Al-Jandal, Al-Qaisumah, Al-Safa, Al-Najma, Al-Taraji , Al-Ansar, Al-Zulfi, Hittin, Afif, Al-Takaddam, Al-Nairiyah and Al-Rayyan.
In its new season, the league is witnessing granting clubs the freedom to determine the third foreign player category, whether (foreign or born).
It is noteworthy that last season witnessed the crowning and promotion of Al-Okhdood team to the first division, as well as the promotion of Al-Orouba, Al-Kholood and Bisha clubs, and the relegation of Al-Bukairiya, Al-Thuqbah, Arar and Al-Nujoom clubs to the second division.
