Former Chelsea winger Pedro has backed Manchester City to regain the Champions League this season.

Back in June, the Manchester club made history by winning the European trophy for the first time, shortly after lifting the Premier League and FA Cup.

With the Citizens now having secured their place in the last 16 of this season's tournament, one player, who knows what it's like to win the competition under Pep Guardiola, has shared his thoughts on how City will get on this time around in the Champions League.

He said: "The Champions League? Yes, I see it balanced because all the strong teams are struggling to get points in the rounds. It is true that there are always those 4-5 very strong teams that arrive at the end of the course.

"Real Madrid, City, Bayern Munich... Barcelona. They are these. Barcelona in recent years has not made it to the bottom, but it is always a very strong team. If I had to say one, well, it's hard. It's always difficult to get to the final. I say the City."

With four games played in the competition this season, City have won all of them, scoring 12 goals and conceding three in the process.

Given how successful the Citizens were last season, it's easy to see why Pedro thinks the club have what it takes to make history once again and regain the Champions League this time around.

Bearing in mind how Guardiola's side managed to overcome the likes of Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Inter Milan to secure the Champions League last season, this also shows why Pedro thinks City have the credentials to do it again in this campaign.

With all of that in mind, we feel that if the club were to regain the European trophy, this would be a massive achievement for them and increase their status as one of the best sides in the world.
