HIGHLIGHTS
  • Many of Manchester City's players have had outstanding campaigns this season.
  • City are challenging for three trophies with several standout performers.
  • However, one player who has struggled is Kalvin Phillips.

Phillips left Manchester City and joined West Ham on loan in search of more playing time and a turnaround in form. Unfortunately, his time at the London Stadium has been far from successful.

In his first two appearances for West Ham, Phillips made errors that led to goals and was even sent off against Nottingham Forest. He was substituted at halftime during their game against Burnley and didn't feature at all in the recent match against Aston Villa.

This season, Phillips has made a total of ten appearances in the Premier League between Manchester City and West Ham. However, he currently holds the unwanted title of being the lowestrated player according to WhoScored database with a rating of just 5.91 out of ten.

Phillips must dig deep amid struggles

It is unfortunate to see Phillips struggling so much after his move to West Ham seemed promising on paper. Reports suggested that David Moyes had long admired him as a player.

Given what happened during his time at Manchester City, it's understandable that confidence may be lacking for Phillips right now. However, there is still hope for him if he can turn things around quickly. If he wants to secure a spot in Gareth Southgate's squad for the upcoming European Championships this summer which he missed out on recently due to poor form Philips needs to find inner strength.
He must put recent setbacks behind him and focus on rediscovering the form that made him successful at Leeds United. By doing so, he will greatly increase his chances of making it to Germany.
