Everton's former chief Keith Wyness has urged Liverpool to accept what he has been told will be an incoming "PS100million" bid from Saudi Arabia for Mohamed Salah.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider's Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old - who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs - claimed the time is right to cash in on the 31-year-old with one year left to run on his contract.

Salah has long been linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League after the emergence of their ambitious footballing project in 2022.

The Liverpool star was the subject of offers from Saudi clubs last summer (2023) but remained at Anfield.

He has managed 24 goals and 13 assists in 41 games across all competitions this term but has been rotated out of the squad by Jurgen Klopp in recent weeks.

Wyness suggested it would be "wise" for Liverpool to sell Salah in the summer window.

He told Football Insider's Insider Track podcast: "With one year left on his contract at 31, the numbers I'm hearing from Saudi sources are around PS70million plus add-ons of around another PS30million.

"I believe those add-ons will be pretty achievable in the Saudi Pro League, in terms of goals and trophies.

"That's the number we're looking at, which gives them the magic headline number of PS100million.

"I think Liverpool would be right to cash in on him now.

"It would be a good move for him to head to the Middle East, close to Egypt.

"Part of the play for the Saudis is that the value of the TV rights would explode. Those rights are up for renewal right now.

"I think there's one eye on the revenue streams, rather than just the football side of things.

"He's the most recognised and favourite footballer from the Middle East.

Liverpool "I think Liverpool should do it this summer.

"It's a lot of money with just one year left, and it would be wise to take it right now."
