Liverpool and Feyenoord are in talks over a deal to bring Arne Slot to Merseyside but a Thomas Frank claim has emerged. Here's your round-up of the latest Liverpool news, also including Luis Diaz.

Luis Diaz transfer claim amid Barcelona 'interest'

Liverpool is beginning to 'lose patience' with Colombian forward Luis Diaz, according to the Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo. Barcelona, the report states, is keen to sign a winger in the summer and Diaz is one of the options under consideration.

Barcelona is also looking at Athletic Club's Nico Williams and Arsenal forward Gabriel Martinelli. The Camp Nou side wants to sign a 'pure winger' and someone who is good at dribbling and taking players on.

The report does not elaborate further on whether Diaz is supposedly frustrating the Reds on or off the pitch. The 27-year-old has scored 13 times this season but like the rest of the forwards, has come under fire in some quarters for not being clinical enough. Off the pitch, his father has gained headlines for talking up a move to Spain.

If Arne Slot arrives at Liverpool this summer, it will be fascinating to see how he chooses to set Liverpool up in an attacking sense. The Dutch coach is renowned for placing a lot of emphasis on his wide players and Diaz, signed for a fee of around $64m (PS51m/EUR60m) from FC Porto in January 2022, could be one of those who benefit as a result.

Thomas Frank 'talks held'

Arne Slot has confirmed that he wants to become Liverpool's replacement for Jurgen Kloppand that talks are underway with Feyenoord to get a deal over the line. But he isn't the only option that has been under consideration at Anfield.

Xabi Alonso and Ruben Amorim, of course, have both been looked at. But according to the Danish outlet Tipsbladet, Brentford boss Thomas Frank was also the subject of a meeting.

Liverpool was never likely to go for a manager with so little experience fighting at the top end of the league. Slot also has experience of playing in UEFA competitions having taken Feyenoord to the Europa Conference League final and since been involved in the Champions League, where his side finished third in the group that also had Atletico Madrid and Lazio in it.
