Chelsea's Wesley Fofana is somewhat of a forgotten man around Stamford Bridge right now because he's not played a single minute this season.

Wesley Fofana, who's a highly-rated young defender, joined Chelsea from Leicester City in a PS75million deal (Sky Sports) in the summer of 2022.

The 22-year-old centre-back did have injury problems during his first year at Stamford Bridge, making just 20 appearances across all competitions.

Now, he's currently recovering from a serious knee problem that has kept him on the sidelines since Mauricio Pochettino arrived in the summer.

The Blues supporters are patiently waiting to hear when he will be able to make his comeback, but there's a reason to be optimistic after his new post.

"After long time," he wrote on his Instagram story alongside a picture of him wearing football boots.

The caption also included the running man emoji and a football emoji, which at least seems to suggest he's stepped up his recovery from this long-term injury.

This comes after Fofana recently liked an Instagram post from a fan account that suggested Fofana could return from injury by January.

Wesley Fofana a sleeping giant There's a lot of quality centre-backs at Chelsea all fighting for a starting position. That includes the likes of Levi Colwill, Axel Disasi, Thiago Silva and Benoit Badiashile.

You could make a decent case to suggest that Fofana could overtake them all in the pecking order when fit again, though.

The fast defender has shown so much quality in English football during his time with Chelsea and Leicester, but the injury issues are a huge grey mark against his name.

If he can stay fit, we're confident Fofana's got the ability and character to nail down a spot in the Blues XI.

Chelsea fans will all be hoping for some good news soon with a definitive injury update from the club.
