'Just unbelievable': Tim Sherwood blown away by 25-year-old Liverpool player after watching him this weekend

Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold played in the midfield last night for England and Tim Sherwood has lauded his performance.

'Trent' was given a starting role in a midfield three by Gareth Southgate and against a poor Malta side, was able to showcase his passing throughout the game.

A lot has been made of Alexander-Arnold's ability in midfield and Jurgen Klopp has used him there this season, albeit he tends to drift into midfield from right-back.

However, speaking on Sky Sports today, Tim Sherwood has said he'd be more than happy to see Alexander-Arnold in England's first-choice midfield come the Euros.

"I'm happy to have him in there. I had Phil Foden because I think he has to be in the team somewhere. But I'm happy to have Trent in there, they're completely different players," Sherwood said.

"Phil will drive through the lines. I just think that Trent will just find a pass. I mean his range of passing is just unbelievable. If you're Harry Kane when Trent gets the ball you're moving, he'll find you. He gives us a set-piece option as well. I really like him, I really do but he's only played one game there for England."

Alexander-Arnold seems to be maturing as the time ticks by and after looking like he'd not be part of Southgate's thinking at one point, he now looks a certainty to be included.

Of course, there are arguments to be had for his inclusion and exclusion. Purely as a right-back, England have options galore such as Reece James and Kieran Trippier.

However, on current form and if he can continue to shine for Liverpool, then Alexander-Arnold will be included. And rightly so.
